Caring for Your BAA BAA Wool Mats and Pillows

Looking after your mat or pillow is simple and helps them stay soft and cosy for years. Here are some easy tips.

🧺 Machine washable – cold water, wool or delicate cycle
🧹 Brush to keep wool fluffy (wet or dry, easier when dry)
☀️ Air dry in the sun – no tumble dryer
🐕 Vacuum before wash to remove hair and dirt

Washing

• All mats and pillows are machine washable. Use a wool or delicate cycle with cold water for the best results.
• Always place the wool side facing outwards when washing. This helps with rinsing and stops water or dirt from being held in by the water resistant fabric.
• Vacuum the mat before washing to remove loose hair and dirt.
• Extra large mats fit in most machines, but make sure not to overload. If you have two mats, it is better to wash them one at a time.
• Choose a mild wool wash or delicate wash. Avoid strong fragrances as pets can be sensitive to them.

Brushing

• To keep the wool fluffy and looking like new, brushing is the best way.
• You can brush when the mat is wet or dry, but many people find it easier once it is dry.
• Even very old mats can look almost brand new again after brushing. We will have a video to show you the difference.
• Any brush for dogs or cats works well. We also offer our brush with the right padding and bristle length which makes brushing easier.
• After brushing, the wool can sometimes build up static. If this happens, spread a small amount of sorbolene cream, lanolin cream, or an unscented hand cream evenly over your hands. Then gently run your hands over the wool, like smoothing it down. This removes the static and keeps the mat soft.

Drying

• The best way to dry your mat is to lay it out in the sun.
• Do not tumble dry as it can damage the wool.

Extra tips

• Store it in a dry place when not in use.
• With regular care your mat or pillow will stay soft, cosy and long lasting.
